Skin Care Using Essential Oils
The top three essential oils for skin rejuvenation are myrrh, sandalwood and frankincense. Their skin restoring properties are legendary and clinically proven. A few drops of essential oils goes along way. A bottle lasts a long time since less is better when using essential oils.
For the face, I prefer placing the essential oils in Emu oil. Emu oil is the only oil that penetrates the skin seven layers deep and it can be used to carry the healing and restoring power of the essential oils even deeper.
The top 3 essential oils for the skin are:
- Frankincense – Rejuvenates aging skin by improving skin tone and returning dry and oily skin to normal, balanced state. It firms skin, promotes healing and fights inflammation.
- Myrrh – Maintains firm, youthful skin by helping to prevent tissue degeneration. It cools, soothes, and heals, especially useful for chapped, cracked and infected skin. The benefits of myrrh include skin care. Since the Egyptians it has been used to maintain healthy skin, prevent skin aging and sooth chapped or cracked skin.
- Sandalwood – Soothes, firms and softens skin. It has historically protected from infection and it has historically been used for acne, scars and wrinkles.
Add two table spoons of cold pressed vegetable oil such as sweet almond, jojoba, or apricot kernel (Emu is my preference) to brown glass bottle. Add the essential oils to the bottle, put the lid on and shake to mix. You can also mix several different massage oils as well. Dot on the skin and massage lightly until the skin has absorbed the oil and use as a night time skin treatment.
